What is Lunch Bunch?
Lunch Bunch is available for any 1st and 2nd grade student who may want a quieter place to play during lunch. Often times, lunch can be a difficult and overwhelming experience for a new student, a student who may prefer a calmer environment, a student who has difficulty with friends, or those who need a little help meeting other peers. When a student attends Lunch Bunch, we first join together and ask a question that introduces ourselves, and then we break out into playing games- because children learn best through play! Adult support is provided only for modeling and facilitating peer connections. Modeling includes initiating play, "Do you want to play with us?", problem solving, "What can we do to make things right?", or asking questions to get to know another peer. Lunch Bunch Schedule
For students who are participating in Irvine Virtual Academy or Westpark's Hybrid Model, Lunch Bunch will be held virtually through Zoom for any 1st or 2nd grade student who is interested in participating. Meeting link, topic, and game details are available on your child's Google Classroom or Canvas page.
First Grade: Wednesdays 11:30a- 12:00p
Second Grade: Tuesdays 12:00p- 12:30p
Similar to our typical Lunch Bunch, we will be getting to know each other with a quick "Get To Know You" question and then playing a virtual game!
